In the interest of promoting open scholarly inquiry, below is a readable image of the 2-page Hong Kong magazine article that is the original source of the questionably large estimates of the size of China’s nuclear arsenal presented on Dr. Karber’s slide. The slide was shown as part of a talk on his work given at an event sponsored by the Nonproliferation Policy Education Center in Georgetown on September 26, 2011.

Because of the importance of identifying the original source, I traveled to Hong Kong in early November to find it. I am continuing to investigate the contents of this article in an ongoing effort to evaluate information Dr. Karber presented publicly weeks before my comments to the Washington Post reporter.

We’ve also posted a pdf of the document.
