Fixing Our Broken Fuel Policies

The production and consumption of fossil fuels have driven the climate crisis and have dire negative effects on public health.

As transportation is the largest source of global warming pollution, replacing petroleum with renewable electricity and other clean transportation fuels is among the most critical steps to stave off the worst impacts of climate change. But how we do this as important as what we do. Performance-based clean fuel standards are a proven part of the solution, holding the oil industry accountable for reducing emissions from the production and use of transportation fuels and supporting less polluting alternatives. Clean fuel policies need to be designed carefully to ensure they are equitable and include safeguards to address problems, especially where biofuels are concerned.

In this blog series, we analyze what's broken with our current fuel policies and provide solutions for improvement.
